Thirsty? There’s an app for that

Spent the weekend building Middy. Try it?

Hey yo, Jeffrey here!

My brilliant brother Andrew ––the guy with the bad ideas podcast, The Pitch –– had a great idea for an app:

Two or more people put in their locations and the app finds a bar or restaurant midway between them.

For my new role at StarterSchool.com my boss suggested I play with Codex, an AI-based coding tool from OpenAI, the ChatGPT company.

First thing I asked from Codex was a MacOS script that would chime when my crappy MacBook MagSafe3 cable came unplugged.

That was easy.

So I started building my brother’s idea over the weekend, testing and refining it a bunch.

And now it’s live!

Try it with your friends and let me know what you think?

Bookmark it and use it often.

Cheers,

Jeffrey

PS. The idea was to find a bar midway between two or more people.

But not everyone wants a bar, so I added the option for restaurants and coffee shops, too.

But while “Midway Bar Finder” is accurate…

It’s a bit cumbersome.

My favorite college bar was named The Midway, because it was midway between the two other bars in town.

But everyone called it The Middy.

“Meet you at The Middy” was probably said more than “I’m late for class.”

Turns out, Middy is also an Australian slang term for a small beer.

So the name Middy represents what the app does…

Reflects the Australian beer slang…

And is a nod to best college bar in the world.

Cheers!
