Ideas separate us from the Apes and, sometimes, from the Idiots too.

Last night on a whim I pulled out my workbook from David Deutsch’s Idea Power course.
The course and workbook help you look at problems in a new light so that you can come up with unique approaches and solutions.
Because, as David writes in the workbook’s introduction:
“Better ideas and better solutions will make you the person that everyone looks to every time there’s something that needs to be done better.”
Which, let’s face it, is everything we come across.
A few months ago I was asked for product feedback on a company’s pop-up builder tool.
A tool I used every day for years.
And one I’d be happy to see improved.
So I gave 10 or 15 ways to better the product experience.
Now, I know that I’m not the only one who offered feedback.
But in the last 6 months, not one idea I suggested was implemented.
More importantly, I didn’t see a single change in the platform, meaning…
No improvements were made!
What’s the point of even asking?
Maybe I’m burying the lead here, but I’ve started a new full-time role!
I’m now the Direct Response Marketer at StarterSchool.com…
A company helping teenagers navigate their career choices through training and day-in-the-life experiences.
The team is fantastic.
The company runs on direct response to its core.
We work fast, test things, and iterate.
Today I was asked to help rewrite some of the copy to solve student confusion.
Which, sure, we can look at that…
But pulling from the Idea Power course, I instead helped to redefine the problem we’re really trying to solve.
And my boss was thrilled with the solutions I offered.
The world runs on good ideas.
And we all have them.
Question is: are you acting on them?
Love you,
Jeffrey
