Tiny minority driving everyone’s anxiety

Crazy to think that 0.01% of people use AI.

I saw a stat that 0.01% of people use AI.

If you spend any time on LinkedIn, it seems to be everywhere.

And it has a lot of people scared that AI is coming for their job.

And hell, it might be, I don’t know.

It does get better every day…

…when it’s not erasing people’s emails and suggesting we launch the nukes #truestory

But I do know that FEAR is a huge motivator.

Daniel Kahneman wrote about the motivating power of fear in Thinking, Fast and Slow, under his term “Prospect Theory.”

According to Kahneman’s research with Amos Tversky, fear and loss are much more motivating than gain and greed.

Which is why, when you’re selling something, you often want to focus on what your solution is solving more than what a buyer will get at the end.

I mean, it is a solution, right?

Fear is so powerful that there’s even a copywriting formula based around it:

PAS. Problem—Agitate—Solution.

Start with the problem. And agitate it, make it big and scary.

Most marketing doesn’t use enough fear, doesn’t dig enough into problems.

And when I suggested once to use more fear, I was told…

“Don’t remind them!

Limp.

Anyhow, discover how to use FEAR in Chapter 1 of The Secrets of Hot-Button Copywriting.

That is, if you want to stay ahead of the copybots.

PS. After our Puerto Vallarta trip with cousins got cancelled (thanks for the fear, narcos) we tried to book a cruise in the Bahamas.

The cousins took the ship’s last room for 4 people. If we wanted to sail the seas with them, we woulda had to book 2 rooms.

So that was also cancelled.

And now we’re all heading to Orlando for some sun in the fun.

I think.

You see, we seem to have bad luck with these cousins.

Last time we traveled together in 2024… we traveled straight into Hurricane Debby.

Still had fun tho.
