Have you heard of Johnny Blue Skies?

It’s the new stage name for Sturgill Simpson, an alt-country musician.

Sturgill recently released his 9th album… but Mutiny After Midnight is the first as Johnny Blue Skies.

And as a big ‘screw you’ to streaming services –– Spotify pays artists about $3,000 to $5,000 per million streams –– Sturgill released Mutiny After Midnight album only on cassette, CD, and vinyl.

It has sold so well it’s in Billboard’s Top 10.

My copy just arrived and I stopped everything to give it a listen, which I’m doing as I write to you.

Digging it.

But I almost missed my chance to grab an early copy because the emails were from Johnny Blue Skies, and I didn’t know who that was, so I had been ignoring them.

Lessons here for ya:

• Do something different. Stand out.

• Don’t show up as an unknown. That’s too different and might get you dismissed.

Ok back to it.

Love you,

PS. Looks like iTunes might now have Mutiny After Midnight available.

PPS. Time to flip the record. I’m on it.
