SWAT Research

This morning, I read an article about a police SWAT team who used Apple’s “FindMy” service to track stolen goods related to a car-jacking.

This was in Saint Louis, Missouri.

And the SWAT team ransacked the wrong house.

Fact is, research about your target audience isn’t always 100% reliable.

But you can shortcut a lot of that research when you look at successful competitor ads. If those ads are working, and you copy their audience, then you have a chance of working, too.

But you shouldn’t use the same approach your competitors use.

Instead, raise your ads to a higher level of market sophistication.

I explain how to do that in “Grow or Sell: Targeting The Right Audience in Social Media,” a presentation I gave two weeks ago.

You can find that presentation here, along with another 3o+ presentations on marketing:

But maybe you don’t want to sign up for a free presentation.

Maybe you just want ads that work.

Well, like market research, there is no guarantee you have the right approach.

But after a few years in this game, I have a decent idea on how to create ads that sell.

Want to talk about your ads? Want me to create a few for you to test? Or maybe you want me to take over your ad accounts and give you a break?

Hit reply and let’s talk.

P.S. In the Saint Louis SWAT case, it turns out the Apple device was laying in the street out front.
