I broke my son’s nose. (He was asking for it!)

Saint Paul

“Throw it high so I have to jump!” were his last words.

I threw my 8 year old son the baseball, over his head, like he wanted.

He stretched out his glove… jumped for the ball…

And the ball bounced off his glove… and into his face.

Sam fell to the ground and buried his face in his hands, still wearing his uniform from that morning’s game.

I ran over to him, comforted him, asked if he was OK.

Within a minute he was on his feet. Nose bloodied, face swollen.

Round of applause for the injured player.

We went inside and put a bag of frozen peas on his puffy nose and left eye.

This was Saturday.

And over the weekend, his face got more black-and-blue.

Is his nose really broken? Not sure. He kinda looks like Own Wilson tho.

But after the initial pain, he wore a huge smile.

And Sunday afternoon, we were back out there playing catch again.

Of course, he was a bit more wary of the ball.

But still he begged me, “Throw it high, dad!”

A solid reminder to get back on the horse, as they say.

Not landing clients? Keep at it.

Not making sales? Keep at it.

Not the best candidate for the job? Keep at it.

Remember that most people give up when things get challenging.

But you’re not most people, *|FNAME|*.

And just by showing up, you’re ahead of the game.
