Tonight I watched a bit of Mark Joyner’s webinar for building wealth in 2020. Joyner is a pioneer in online marketing and wrote the book MindControlMarketing.com (you can read the PRL review here).

I like to attend these to learn what they offer… and to gain a few gems of wisdom.

(and I know that watching the full thing might get me to spend my cash… so I try to be aware of that…)

Anyways, here are a few tips on Webinars that I’ve picked up from watching various ones over the years:

1, You want your audience engaged. If you can call out the names of a few participants, it makes the event more personal for everyone.

This is echoed in magic shows: if you ask an audience member to inspect a prop, everyone else will feel it’s a fair representation of what they themselves would do. The audience is all in this, together.

2, You’ll get better attention, engagement, and sales when you ask people to interact. Joyner asks people to type in Yes more than once to show their interest in his information and free gifts.

Yes that builds engagement, but it does more: it creates a pattern of behavior.

You can see this same effect in stage hypnosis, where the hypnotist gives small corrections to a participant, creating a pattern of “I suggest, you do, I suggest, you do…”

Guess what happens when it’s time to ask for the sale?

3, Long webinars (and sales letters, and speeches…) wear down peoples’ skepticism. Not only do they offer a lot of proof along the way, people see their spent time as valuable. If they spent valuable time on this webinar, certainly they couldn’t be wrong… and the product must be pretty good!

4, Free bonuses help people to justify their purchase. If you can get a dozen free bonuses valued at $500 each, the end cost of the product is spread across all those bonuses. Of course I want all those things!

5, Vague promises can hold sway. Check out this bonus offering a 16x profit for the same amount of work you’re currently doing… and a whole lot more.

The 16x return is not necessarily incorrect, but it’s not really provable either.

The other bullets intentionally drive curiosity and a “You Can Do It” mindset without suggesting anything about the work you’ll have to do.

6, Open Loops keep people watching. To create an open loop you start a story or ask a question… and then you change topics so people stick around for the conclusion.

“I can’t wait to share with you King Solomon’s hidden secret for building wealth!
But first I want to introduce you to…”

That hidden secret wasn’t revealed until some 3 hours into this webinar —I caught it after I gave myself an hour long break.

That secret? Join PRL’s email list here, shoot me an email, and I’ll let you know.

Ok, now you know enough to create your own webinar. Go forth.

And if you want help, I’m an independent marketing consultant and copywriter. I’ve written two VSL scripts—one for a supplement company and one for an insurance company. Hit me up and let’s get some cash flowin’.
