What goes IN the brain is what comes OUT (why I DOGE’d another subscription)

Earlier this year, I decided to give up most of my subscriptions.

Ben Settle’s Email Players, gone. Dan Kennedy’s No B.S. Newsletter, gone. Wiz of eCom’s Utopia, gone.

Those ones hurt, because I found value in them, some months more than others of course.

I let go a few others too that I’ve since forgotten about, and hence don’t really miss.

Today, I was up for a renewal of another email subscription, for a guy who likes to criticize ads.

And he’s great at it, finding bad ads and poking fun and being angry.

But I don’t need more angry in my life.

When we first had kids, I started learning about how the brain works… how the subconscious absorbs ideas… and connecting that with the lyrics of so much modern music that I would listen to with my infants…

That knowledge changed what I listen to.

More classical music. More old country music about love. Less struggle-rap. Less debauchery-pop…

A year ago, I found Boost Radio.

It’s a Christian hip-hop radio station (and there’s an app to stream the music, too).

And it’s now my go-to when I want something up-beat and positive.

Going into 2026, stay upbeat.

Especially if the weather and darkness have you down.

I asked the ad critic if he’d be on my podcast.

“For free? No.”

Well, at least he was clear about it.

Love you,

Jeffrey
