Unpaid Invoice

Saint Paul

Today’s lesson: get paid up front.

See, I have a client with an unpaid invoice for work I’ve done.

The last time this happened—10 or 12 months ago—the client ghosted me.

Six months later that guy returned with a text message, “you have not been forgotten.”

Lucky me.

Still, he didn’t pay me the $1000 he owed. And because I’m not interested in flaky clients, he’s out.

And I changed my payment schedule because of it. Now I’m paid up-front before I start writing anything.

I advise you to do the same.

This new situation?

The gentleman still has a few days before his invoice is due.

But while I waited, I found myself inspired to start. So I wrote his copy, going against my “paid up-front” rule.

Stupid me.

Now I’m sitting on 20 Facebook ads for his insurance company funnel. And while I’d rather not start over with a new client… if he doesn’t pay his invoice I’ll have to make a bargain sale to one of his competitors.

Not ideal. But thems the breaks.

And if you’re interested in lead generating ads for an insurance company targeting widows, let me know 😝
