Myers-Briggs Personality Tests take 4 traits of a personality, and puts people on one side or the other of these traits.
Then, those 4 traits are combined into 16 different ‘personality types.’
These are all “general” attributes, not absolute—
- Social Attitude:
- Extroverted (E) people are charged by social interactions, vs.
- Introverted (I) people are drained by social interactions.
- Perception:
- Sensing (S) people live in the moment, vs.
- Intuition (N) people look towards the future.
- Decision Processing:
- Thinking (T) people process with logic primarily, vs.
- Feeling (F) people process with emotion primarily.
- Follow the Rules:
- Judging (J) people follow the rules even if they don’t like ’em, vs.
- Perceiving (P) people are more seat-of-the-pants.
