Light a Fire Under Your A**

There’s nothing like a deadline to get yourself moving.

Last week I received a copy of “Creative Ambush,” a book to spark creativity that I purchased in early August.

(We were on vacation in South Carolina during Hurricane Debby when I bought it online—what a wild ride it was to be on vacation during a hurricane!)

The book just arrived. And it talks about putting everything you can into your creative endeavors.

Because if you’re afraid to fail, you won’t start. Or won’t try too hard.

(That’s why people intentionally sing bad at karaoke—no one can make them feel bad for failing if they don’t really try.)

But if you’re not afraid to fail… then…

Give it everything you can!

So I’m spending my evenings reading this, not working on anything too big.

But on Friday, I got an email that my slides are almost due for my upcoming talk on direct response email marketing, happening Nov 12-14 at MarketingProfs’ B2B Forum.

Ahh!!

So I dove in.

I’ve been thinking about the talk for a few months.

I have an outline.

But after the Creativity book lit a fire under my ass, I’ve got a TON of new ideas to incorporate.

We’ll see what I can squeeze in—the presentation is only 45 minutes.

But I am dedicated to making it amazing. And I know, there’s no reason I can’t make it amazing.

*|FNAME|* if you’re in Boston this Nov 12-14… or want to take a trip (like most of the 600 attendees) I’d love to see you there.

Eddie Shleyner from VeryGoodCopy is speaking.

Nancy Harhut, master of behavioral economics, is speaking.

Email master Jay Schwedelson too.

And writer and marketer Ann Handley will be opening the event.

It’s gonna be awesome.

But before any of that happens… I have to get these slides wrapped up.

What’s been on your plate that you’ve been avoiding?

Get after it!

Peace be with you,

Jeffrey
