Just when you thought you were out…

“Just When I Thought I Was Out, They Pull Me Back In!”
—Godfather 3… and pretty much every “one last heist” movie ever.

I had a former co-worker reach out to me on LinkedIn, asking if I was interested in IT work, or knew anyone who was. A lawyer friend of hers is looking for tech help.

I’m not in the IT game any more. I really don’t know anyone who is.

And I’m not getting pulled back in—copywriting is too much fun.

But what I do know is where IT people congregate: at a monthly happy hour dedicated to networking in the local IT and Programmer community.

So I pointed her to the event page for TechOnTap to pass along to the lawyer friend.

Businesses are always in need of something.

If you can provide that, great.

And if you can’t provide it… but you can make connections to help solve someone else’s problems… that’s pretty good, too.

Nearly every copywriting job I’ve gotten wasn’t from an application, but through my network.

And there’s no better way to make your network grow than to be useful, even when there’s no (apparent) benefit to yourself.

If you want to connect on LinkedIn, you can find me here:

But don’t just click [Connect]. Add a note, tell me why we’re connecting.

Because I tend to ignore connections that look (to me) like a random person trying to grow their own network.

Intentions count, my friend.
