I love junk mail.

Get any weird mail lately?

Postcards for Senior Living, Gold Bullion investments pitches, or maybe a Medicaid sales packet?

I’ve found, the longer I’m in marketing, the more odd things arrive in the mail.

“Junk mail,” I used to call it.

Now?

It’s research.

These are topics I’ve actively looked into for clients and my own interests.

During the Medicaid open enrollment, I listened to sales pitches on the phone. Took a few notes for a client’s phone scripts I was writing.

If you’re in marketing, you’ve probably heard to read good sales copy every day.

The stuff that comes in the mail isn’t always very good.

But it is a chance to see what’s out there and perhaps find a new client.

So I pick apart the copy, see what they’re trying to do, see where I would improve it.

Just keeping my focus.

Like always, I suggest you stay focused too…

Jeffrey

P.S. New email rules are coming down soon. If you don’t like my emails please unsubscribe—the link is down below.

Meanwhile—happy new year! I’m taking more time for silence, meditation, and prayer this year. How about you, anything big (or small) in your plans?
