Get OUT (of your head)

9:06am
Saint Paul

Not gonna lie:

The fear of judgement holds me back.

Your judgement. People on social I’ve never met. My wife and kids. Friends, bosses, coworkers, whatever.

Not always, of course.

But it’s that stupid feeling that asks “who are you?”

Who are you to share those thoughts?

Who are you to try something new?

Who are you to make mistakes?

Imposter!

Years ago, some friends found this website. They didn’t like what I was writing about persuasion and how humans make decisions and how we can influence that decision-making process.

Then sh*t blew up and we’re no longer talking.

And so for a few years, I scaled back.

Out of fear.

But I also know that freedom lies on the other end of that fear.

And the imposter syndrome isn’t real.

Because here I am, doing it. Whatever that is.

And even though I’m not as consistent as I’d like to be in sharing cool ideas with you, I didn’t give up.

At the end, I want to know that I didn’t hide my light under a basket. Because that’s how the house burns down.

This year for Christmas I am asking for Rick Rubin’s book on creativity, The Creative Act: A Way of Being.

Rick is the music producer behind incredibly unique albums like Tom Petty’s Wildflowers, Kanye West’s Yeezus, Justin Timberlake’s FutureSexLoveSounds, and Lana Del Rey’s Paradise.

Some of my favorites.

Now, I don’t expect to learn creativity from a book.

And as Eugene Schwartz said, only God creates. What we call creativity is just us putting existing ideas together in a new way.

But maybe the book will unlock some new ideas.

That’s all I ever hope for when I buy books or courses. Just one step forward. One more tool. One more mental connection in my constellation of a brain.

One step closer to freedom.

I said yesterday I didn’t want to buy a bunch of courses on sale during Black Friday.

That’s true.

But another truth is that I already bought a few things lol.

And one is a MONTH of creators and entrepreneurs sharing their insights and experiences inside a Skool group named Creators Calling.

Mostly I signed up because marketer Mitch Miller has 3 sessions —— and the first one is tomorrow, Thanksgiving Day, at 6am.

(Actually most of the 23 scheduled sessions are at really inconvenient times.

But they’re recorded, natch, and there’s a library prerecorded trainings as well.)

I don’t know how I found Mitch. Maybe through Preston Halbert?

But two months ago I watched Mitch’s webinar about “market positioning” and I needed more from him.

(So much that I almost traveled to Rome earlier this month for his Copy Colosseum event.)

So when I saw that he has 3 sessions, I signed up for Creators Calling.

(And discovered that Mitch has a 3 hour “Gangster Positioning” recording in the library, so I watched that yesterday.)

Creators Calling started today with a deep dive on “super healing” through living the truth.

Which is exactly why I’m still writing to you, all these years later:

Because Jesus asked me to not put my light under a bushel basket. Let the truth shine. Live it.

I don’t know what the rest of the next month of sessions will be about. Some might be woo-woo like this opening session. Mitch Miller’s will probably be on marketing.

(The library has awesome videos about sales and marketing, but most of the people introducing themselves don’t seem to be in sales or marketing, from what I’ve seen. They want the keys of creativity. I want it all lol.)

But if ONE tip moves you forward. ONE speaker helps you unlock more creativity. ONE idea on positioning brings you more clients. ONE session helps you get over the impostor syndrome…

That, to me, is worthwhile.

Want to join me? It’s an affordable $99 for the full month, with recordings available of any session you miss (for a limited time).

Have a happy Thanksgiving,

Your man Jeffrey

PS. Remember there’s a difference between being thankful and being grateful.

Thankful is about a transaction. You do this, I thank you.

Grateful is a deeper feeling of appreciating the people and things we have in our life.

And I am grateful that you stick with me and even read these letters now and again.

Love you.
